The Mango
Let’s start with the mango. What kind of mango can one use to make a delicious juice? There are so many varieties of mangoes out there. I generally use one that is fleshy and just ripe. I like a mango that is still firm and not starting to get brown spots on it.
- Peel the mango and get the flesh off the pit.
- Chop the mango into cubes and set aside.

Making the Refreshing Mango Juice
Now that we have our mango ready, we can get started with making and enjoying our juice.
- Add 1 cup of chopped mango (about two large mangoes worth) to a blender jug.
- Next add the juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons).
- Then add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup to the jug. You can also use agave syrup or simple sugar syrup here.
- Toss in a pinch (about 1/4 teaspoon) of salt. Salt brings out the flavour of the mango even more.
- And finally pour in 2 cups of water to the blender.
- Blend everything well so you have a smooth consistency.

Straining the Mango Juice
Once you have a smooth consistency, stop the blender.
- Get a clean bowl or jug and place a fine mesh sieve over it.
- Pour the juice into the sieve.
- Using a spoon, strain the juice so you get all the juice into the bowl and get rid of any hair from the mango.

Serving Suggestions for the Mango Juice
Generally I would serve the mango juice right away over some ice. Alternatively, place the juice in a tight lidded container in the fridge so it cools down completely – about 2 hours – then serve it with a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh mint.
Mango juice will taste best if consumed within a day, however, you can keep it in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Yes, you can use frozen mangoes. Allow them to thaw out a little in the fridge before blending and enjoy a refreshing juice.
Mango juice is made with mangoes and water, while a smoothie is made with mangoes and yogurt or milk. A mango smoothie is thicker in consistency than mango juice.
Generally mango juice is best served fresh, but you can keep it in the fridge for up to 2 – 3 days. Anything longer and the mango goes bad.
